Trinity Healthcare Services is proud to announce that it's Logan facility has won First Place in the WVHCA Mountaineer Mile Challenge!
The West Virginia Health Care Association (WVHCA) launched the Mountaineer Mile Challenge this summer at the encouragement of Gov. Patrick Morrisey. From June 9th to September 5th, staff at more than 120 skilled nursing facilities across the state were encouraged to walk at least one mile each day. The goal: promote wellness, healthy habits, and team spirit across West Virginia.
Facilities competed as a team, with prizes awarded to the top three facilities with the highest percentage of staff consistently participating. Trinity Healthcare of Logan rose to the occasion and walked their way into the top spot statewide.
Building Healthy Habits Together
Using the StepUp app, our staff members logged miles every day - turning the challenge into a source of friendly competition and camaraderie across the facility. With strong participation from every department, Trinity Healthcare of Logan demonstrated how teamwork and accountability can foster wellness and resilience.
"I couldn't be prouder of our staff," said Director of Nursing, Sara Gibson. "We know how important it is to care for others, but this challenge reminded us how important it is to also care for ourselves. Seeing our team come together, encouraging one another, and committing to walking every single day was truly inspiring."

The WVHCA awarded Trinity Healthcare of Logan $750 for our Activities Department - a department that drives resident-centered programs and engagement.
A Victory Beyond the Miles
For Trinity Healthcare of Logan, the win represents more than just steps on a pedometer. It reflects the dedication of staff who balance challenging work with their own wellbeing.
Administrator Jordan Gibson added, "This victory is about culture. When staff invest in their own health, it creates a ripple effect that benefits residents, coworkers, and families. Winning the Mountaineer Challenge shows that we're not just strong caregivers - we're strong people and we're in this together."
Looking Ahead
Trinity Healthcare Services is grateful to the WVHCA for this innovative challenge and to Governor Patrick Morrisey for his initiative to get West Virginians moving. Most of all, we thank our staff for showing up day after day, step after step, to make this victory possible.
We are excited to celebrate this achievement and to continue promoting wellness - both for our residents and for our dedicated team who make Trinity Healthcare Services a place of strength, care, and community.
